An explosion caused by what officials believe was a homemade bomb tore through the Chelsea neighborhood in New York City injuring at least 29 people on Saturday night. None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening, the New York City Fire Department said. The force of the explosion blew out windows and could be heard several blocks away, according to BBC. Authorities believe the blast was caused by an explosive device in or near a dumpster, according to CNN. The blast, which happened around 8:30 p.m., prompted the closure of a large section of Manhattan south of Midtown, the New York Times reported. On Sunday, 14th Street to 32nd Street was closed to traffic between Fifth and Eighth Avenues until further notice, according to the New York Times. A second device, believed to ...

In this video tour, David Hill of New York Habitat (http://www.nyhabitat.com) explores the thriving districts Kensington & Chelsea in London! The Royal borough of Kensington & Chelsea is the most densely populated in the UK and one of the wealthiest. The borough stretches roughly from Harrow Road in the north to the banks of the Thames in the south, and from Finborough road in the west to Hyde Park in the east. It is the most popular accommodation destination for visitors coming to the city for a short period. In the tour, we'll explore the best shopping spots in the area, stop by museums such as the Natural History Museum, have a look at famous neighborhoods such as Notting Hill and visit parks such as Kensington Gardens! Shopping in Kensington and Chelsea The tour starts at one of the most popular shopping destinations in London: Kensington High Street. Kensington High Street boasts many chain stores known throughout the world, such as Marks & Spenser, H&M, Whole Foods Market, and many more. In Chelsea, King's Road is the place to be. King's Road features many boutiques stores, which you can find all the way up to Sloane Square. From Sloane Square, Sloane Street runs north to Knightsbridge and Hyde Park. At Sloane Street, you'll find the best of fashion at stores such as Gucci, Prada, Versace, Jimmy Choo and more. Along Knightsbridge, you'll find Harrods: arguably London's most famous department store. Culture & Famous Museums in Kensington & Chelsea In Kensington you can find the Natural History Museum, which boasts over 70 million items in its five main collections Botany, Entomology, Mineralogy, Palaeantology and Zoology. The Science Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum are located just blocks away. In between the Natural History Museum and the Albert Memorial, which can be found in Kensington Gardens, lies the Royal Albert Hall. This impressive building hosts concerts, plays and operas. All these buildings together show South Kensington really is a central point of art and culture in London. Stay in Kensington or Chelsea in your own Vacation Rental Apartment After a busy day of shopping, exploring the area and taking in some culture, you can relax and come home to your own London vacation rental apartment. (http://www.nyhabitat.com/london-apartment/vacation). NY Habitat has many vacation rental apartments in Kensington and Chelsea that can provide a prefect base to explore London from. Take for example this modern 2-bedroom accommodation in South Kensington: http://www.nyhabitat.com/london-apartment/vacation/765, which is just minutes from the Earl's Court exhibition center. If you're thinking of traveling to London with a big family or group of friends, this 3-bedroom apartment in Chelsea might be a fantastic fit for you: http://www.nyhabitat.com/london-apartment/vacation/1256. This classic apartment with a private balcony can sleep up to six people, and is located steps away from the bustling King's Road! Check http://www.nyhabitat.com/london-apartment.html for our entire selection of apartments in London. Notting Hill & Kensington Gardens Next on the tour is Notting Hill, which lies to the northwest of Kensington Gardens. Anyone who's ever seen the movie Notting Hill starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts will be familiar with the beautiful colored houses of Portobello Road and the secluded private gardens of the neighborhood. Visit Notting Hill on a Saturday to explore the famous market of Portobello Road, where you can pick up antiques, clothes and more. When you're visiting Kensington, of course you also have to stop by its famous parks. Kensington Gardens is the western half of Hyde Park, and includes the Albert Memorial. Stroll through the park to feel miles away from the busy city life. After a long afternoon of exploring Kensington, end the day in one of Kensington's excellent pubs or restaurants. Welcome to the first video tour of our two part series dedicated to the neighborhood called Chelsea, located on the west side of the borough of Manhattan, New York, by New York Habitat (http://www.nyhabitat.com ) . Feel free to watch other great video tours of New York neighborhoods ( http://www.youtube.com/user/NewYorkHabitat?feature=mhee#g/c/5704CB831C46A022), such as the Lower east Side (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHA_hz0tqBU) and the Meatpacking District (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCLLwME15FU). Here in Chelsea you'll find yourself in a historical yet impressively progressive neighborhood, which is roughly bordered by 14th street to the south, 30th street to the north, 6th Avenue to the east and the Hudson River and West Street to the west. The General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church (440 West 21st Street) was founded in 1817. The magnificent green, lush quadrangle is a peaceful place in the bustling city. In the late 1880's the Hudson River Railroad began using 10th and 11th avenues dividing Chelsea from the waterfront. Soon the neighborhood was covered in slaughterhouses, breweries and tenements for the immigrant labor force to live in. Something to check out in this area is The Limelight Market Place (47 West 20th Street). This 25,000-square-foot former eighties nightclub, and, before that a church, has been converted into a shopping center. The 20th Street landmark's lancet windows, labyrinthine layout, and soaring chapel are the same as they ever were but now you'll find specialty clothes, housewares, chocolates and the quintessential Grimaldi's pizza. If you're an art enthusiast, you'll be delighted to know that Chelsea is considered by many to be the art capital of New York, boasting more than 200 galleries. The 1950's and 60's gave Chelsea a facelift with public housing and urban renewal projects. A few examples are the Robert Miller Gallery (524 West 26th Street), the George Billis Gallery (521 West 26th Street) and the Sonnabend (536 West 22nd Street). The player is part of the Strategic Homeland Division (SHD), or "The Division" for short—a classified stay-behind force of self-supported tactical agents. Leading seemingly ordinary lives, SHD agents are trained to operate independently of command when all else fails. This group is established to combat the threat brought about by the outbreak and are given direct authority by the President of the United States to do whatever it takes to prevent the fall of society, piece the city back together and "save what remains". The player will encounter remnants of the New York City Police, Fire, and Emergency Responders and the New York National Guard now known as the JTF (Joint Task Force) who will help the player throughout the game. Enemies include the Rikers (Formerly prisoners of Rikers Island), bandits known as Rioters, The Cleaners who are primarily former New York City Sanitation Workers hellbent on purging the disease, and The Last Man Battalion, a secretive rogue military unit who are trying to restore order in more lethal manners. Throughout the game, the agents will find themselves caught in a worldwide conspiracy and will be forced to combat both the threats of the virus as well as those who unleashed it. The Division takes place in mid-crisis Manhattan, an open world with destructive environments that are free for players to explore. The player's mission is to restore order by investigating the source of a virus. The gameplay is similar to other third-person-shooters, in which player character can carry three weapons, and explosives like sticky bombs and smart mines to fight against enemies. Players may take cover behind objects during firefights to avoid taking damage from enemies, and to give them a tactical advantage when attacking. As the game is set in a third-person perspective, the character model is visible. As players progress, they earn experience points and currency. They can use these points to customize their character's appearance, upgrade weapons and gear, and learn new talents and skills. Players have to complete missions to learn active talents such as the ability to throw healing grenades, deploy automated gun turret or use radar pulse, which can tag enemies. The game features a dynamic, time based weather system which may bring benefits or disadvantages to players. For instance, storms can hinder player's visibility and make aiming difficult. The game also features a day-night cycle which will change the behaviors of enemies in the game.

CHELSEA, MA: The Second Great Chelsea Fire, City of Chelsea, MA, Oct 14, 1973. 18 city blocks were destroyed as a conflagration raged in 50MPH winds, centered on the Chelsea "Rag District", a several-block area of densely packed and dilapidated wood-frame storage buildings, housing paper and textile scrap for the junk and recycling industry. 1200 firefighters from 111 fire departments responded to Chelsea. The fire was eventually stopped when several blocks of tenement buildings were sacrificed in order to set up a valiant head-on stand at the Williams School. Raw digitization of original film published by the National Fire Protection Association, 1974. Original recording has only one audio channel (right speaker only).

A second device, believed to be a pressure cooker rigged with wires, was later found several blocks away on West 27th street. It was later safely removed by the NYPD Bomb Squad, according to the New York Police Department. “There is no specific and credible threat to New York City from any terror organization,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a news conference late Saturday night. However, the mayor did go on to say, “we believe at this point in time this was an intentional act.” Authorities said there appears to be no connection to a pipe bomb that exploded in a garbage can earlier on Saturday in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, USA Today reported. That blast occurred near a Marine charity run with no injuries reported, according to USA Today. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Next Animation Studio’s News Direct service provides daily, high-quality, informative 3D news animations that fill in for missing footage and help viewers understand breaking news stories or in-depth features on science, technology, and health. rrz518 continues through Chelsea. Chelsea is an affluent area in west London,[1] bounded to the south by the River Thames, where its frontage runs from Chelsea Bridge along the Chelsea Embankment, Cheyne Walk, Lots Road and Chelsea Harbour. Its eastern boundary was once defined by the River Westbourne, which is now in a pipe above Sloane Square tube station. The modern eastern boundary is Chelsea Bridge Road and the lower half of Sloane Street, including Sloane Square, along with parts of Belgravia. To the north and northwest, the area fades into Knightsbridge and South Kensington, but it is safe to say that the area north of King's Road as far northwest as Fulham Road is part of Chelsea. The district is part of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. From 1900, and until the creation of Greater London in 1965, it formed the Metropolitan Borough of Chelsea in the County of London. The exclusivity of Chelsea as a result of its high property prices has historically resulted in the term Sloane Ranger to be used to describe its residents. From 2011, Channel 4 has broadcast a reality television show called Made in Chelsea, documenting the "glitzy" lives of several young people living in Chelsea. Moreover, Chelsea is home to one of the largest communities of Americans living outside of the United States, with 6.53% of Chelsea-residents being born in the United States.[2]

The "West Side Cowboys" in New York City, one of the most fun secrets of the High Line, were city-appointed safety vigilantes on horseback that once prevented pedestrian accidents along 10th Avenue, a thoroughfare nicknamed Death Avenue due to the large number of accidents between freight trains and pedestrians. The original High Line, opened in 1934, was an elevated freight viaduct for the New York Central railroad, built in response to the accidents. Read more at http://untap.nyc/1PPFOM8

The New York Mayor says US authorities are certain Saturday’s bomb explosion in the city’s Chelsea district was an act of terror. De Balsio’s news conference came after police arrested a suspect behind the bombings in New York City and New Jersey at the weakened. 28-year-old Ahmad Khan Rahami is now in custody following a shootout with police. He was arrested in New Jersey’s Linden neighborhood. Officials believe he's been in contact with a terrorist group that allegedly orchestrated bombings in both cities. On Saturday, an explosion hit New York's Chelsea neighborhood, injuring 29. Earlier that day, another blast in the city of New Jersey left nearly ten people injured.
