Welcome to the first video tour of our two part series dedicated to the neighborhood called Chelsea, located on the west side of the borough of Manhattan, New York, by New York Habitat (http://www.nyhabitat.com ) . Feel free to watch other great video tours of New York neighborhoods ( http://www.youtube.com/user/NewYorkHabitat?feature=mhee#g/c/5704CB831C46A022), such as the Lower east Side (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHA_hz0tqBU) and the Meatpacking District (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCLLwME15FU). Here in Chelsea you'll find yourself in a historical yet impressively progressive neighborhood, which is roughly bordered by 14th street to the south, 30th street to the north, 6th Avenue to the east and the Hudson River and West Street to the west. The General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church (440 West 21st Street) was founded in 1817. The magnificent green, lush quadrangle is a peaceful place in the bustling city. In the late 1880's the Hudson River Railroad began using 10th and 11th avenues dividing Chelsea from the waterfront. Soon the neighborhood was covered in slaughterhouses, breweries and tenements for the immigrant labor force to live in. Something to check out in this area is The Limelight Market Place (47 West 20th Street). This 25,000-square-foot former eighties nightclub, and, before that a church, has been converted into a shopping center. The 20th Street landmark's lancet windows, labyrinthine layout, and soaring chapel are the same as they ever were but now you'll find specialty clothes, housewares, chocolates and the quintessential Grimaldi's pizza. If you're an art enthusiast, you'll be delighted to know that Chelsea is considered by many to be the art capital of New York, boasting more than 200 galleries. The 1950's and 60's gave Chelsea a facelift with public housing and urban renewal projects. A few examples are the Robert Miller Gallery (524 West 26th Street), the George Billis Gallery (521 West 26th Street) and the Sonnabend (536 West 22nd Street). If you'd like to experience Chelsea like a true local, rent a vacation rental or furnished apartment from New York Habitat. There's no better way to experience the city than to live in a real New York apartment. Check out this fully furnished studio apartment (http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/furnished/6441), which is located in the heart of Chelsea at West 23rd Street and 9th Avenue. The apartment is well lit and furnished with contemporary Scandinavian and antique furniture Another great choice is this furnished 2-bedroom apartment (http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/furnished/12811). The apartment has plenty of seating and also includes a decorative fireplace and exposed brick for décor. Take a look at this furnished 1-bedroom Chelsea apartment (http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/furnished/12830). The bedroom is furnished with a queen sized bed, and there is a queen sized sofa bed in the living room. Wireless Internet is available and there is also a fireplace. If you love sports or just feel like a day at the spa, Chelsea Pier's Sports and Recreation Complex (20th Street &the Hudson River) has something for everyone. The Sports and Recreation Complex offers golf, bowling, skating, a batting cage and rock climbing. The Hudson River Park stretches for 5 miles and is packed with fun and unique daytime activities. If you ever wanted to learn to fish, the Park offers the "Big City Fishing" program for free throughout the summer. The Park also offers kayak trips and sailing, rowing, kayak polo and boat building lessons. Check the Park's Calendar for Outdoor Films, dances, farmer's markets and musical performances along the river. Well, that's a wrap of our first episode of our video tour of Chelsea, New York. If you've got some fun spots in this neighborhood to share with us, please leave a comment below. New York Habitat offers hundreds of apartments for rent in New York, including furnished apartments (http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/furnished ) and vacation rentals (http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/vacation ). In this video tour, David Hill of New York Habitat (http://www.nyhabitat.com) explores the thriving districts Kensington & Chelsea in London! The Royal borough of Kensington & Chelsea is the most densely populated in the UK and one of the wealthiest. The borough stretches roughly from Harrow Road in the north to the banks of the Thames in the south, and from Finborough road in the west to Hyde Park in the east. It is the most popular accommodation destination for visitors coming to the city for a short period. In the tour, we'll explore the best shopping spots in the area, stop by museums such as the Natural History Museum, have a look at famous neighborhoods such as Notting Hill and visit parks such as Kensington Gardens! Shopping in Kensington and Chelsea The tour starts at one of the most popular shopping destinations in London: Kensington High Street. Kensington High Street boasts many chain stores known throughout the world, such as Marks & Spenser, H&M, Whole Foods Market, and many more. In Chelsea, King's Road is the place to be. King's Road features many boutiques stores, which you can find all the way up to Sloane Square. From Sloane Square, Sloane Street runs north to Knightsbridge and Hyde Park. At Sloane Street, you'll find the best of fashion at stores such as Gucci, Prada, Versace, Jimmy Choo and more. Along Knightsbridge, you'll find Harrods: arguably London's most famous department store. Culture & Famous Museums in Kensington & Chelsea In Kensington you can find the Natural History Museum, which boasts over 70 million items in its five main collections Botany, Entomology, Mineralogy, Palaeantology and Zoology. The Science Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum are located just blocks away. In between the Natural History Museum and the Albert Memorial, which can be found in Kensington Gardens, lies the Royal Albert Hall. This impressive building hosts concerts, plays and operas. All these buildings together show South Kensington really is a central point of art and culture in London. Stay in Kensington or Chelsea in your own Vacation Rental Apartment After a busy day of shopping, exploring the area and taking in some culture, you can relax and come home to your own London vacation rental apartment. (http://www.nyhabitat.com/london-apartment/vacation). NY Habitat has many vacation rental apartments in Kensington and Chelsea that can provide a prefect base to explore London from. Take for example this modern 2-bedroom accommodation in South Kensington: http://www.nyhabitat.com/london-apartment/vacation/765, which is just minutes from the Earl's Court exhibition center. If you're thinking of traveling to London with a big family or group of friends, this 3-bedroom apartment in Chelsea might be a fantastic fit for you: http://www.nyhabitat.com/london-apartment/vacation/1256. This classic apartment with a private balcony can sleep up to six people, and is located steps away from the bustling King's Road! Check http://www.nyhabitat.com/london-apartment.html for our entire selection of apartments in London. Notting Hill & Kensington Gardens Next on the tour is Notting Hill, which lies to the northwest of Kensington Gardens. Anyone who's ever seen the movie Notting Hill starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts will be familiar with the beautiful colored houses of Portobello Road and the secluded private gardens of the neighborhood. Visit Notting Hill on a Saturday to explore the famous market of Portobello Road, where you can pick up antiques, clothes and more. When you're visiting Kensington, of course you also have to stop by its famous parks. Kensington Gardens is the western half of Hyde Park, and includes the Albert Memorial. Stroll through the park to feel miles away from the busy city life. After a long afternoon of exploring Kensington, end the day in one of Kensington's excellent pubs or restaurants. Chelsea is an affluent area in central London, bounded to the south by the River Thames. Its frontage runs from Chelsea Bridge along the Chelsea Embankment, Cheyne Walk, Lots Road and Chelsea Harbour. Its eastern boundary was once defined by the River Westbourne, which is now in a pipe above Sloane Square tube station. The modern eastern boundary is Chelsea Bridge Road and the lower half of Sloane Street, including Sloane Square. To the north and northwest, the area fades into Knightsbridge and Brompton, but it is safe to say that the area north of King's Road as far northwest as Fulham Road is part of Chelsea. The football club Chelsea F.C. could reasonably be considered to be based in Chelsea, despite being located in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. The district is part of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. From 1900, and until the creation of Greater London in 1965, it formed the Metropolitan Borough of Chelsea in the County of London. The exclusivity of Chelsea as a result of its high property prices has historically resulted in the term Sloane Ranger being used to describe its residents. Since 2011, Channel 4 has broadcast a reality television show called Made in Chelsea, documenting the "glitzy" lives of young people living there. Moreover, Chelsea is home to one of the largest communities of Americans living outside the US, with 6.53% of Chelsea residents being born in the US. Source: Wikipedia

Welcome back to the second half of our series dedicated to the Chelsea, New York, by New York Habitat (http://www.nyhabitat.com) . If you missed the 1st episode, you can find it on our YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/NewYorkHabitat?feature=mhee#g/c/5704CB831C46A022. You can also find a lot of great videos about other neighborhoods such as Greenwich Village (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFa9ppu8fEY ) and Soho (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPflq6u9Ywk). When the sun starts to set, one of the best places to be in Chelsea is the High Line Park. The High Line was renovated to serve as a park, running from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street, between 10th & 11th Avenues. It's a great place to meet friends, take a leisurely walk, or have a picnic. You'll want to keep an eye out for some notable new architecture along the High Line. Here are a few locations: The Della Valle Bernheimer design (459 West 18th Street), The Chelsea Modern (447 West 18th Street) and The IAC Building (555 West 18th Street). For you fashion buffs out there, Chelsea is home to the Fashion Institute of Technology (Seventh Avenue &West 27 Street), the internationally recognized college for design, fashion and business. For political buffs, note that the national office of the Communist Party USA is located on the 8th floor of 235 West 23rd St. For French popular culture buffs, stop by the Saint Vincent De Paul Church on 23rd Street where Edith Piaf was married. In the mood for a laugh? The Gotham Comedy Club on West 23rd Street is an elegant lounge that hosts some of New York's finest comedy. For a show or a concert, here are a few of our favorite Chelsea venues: The Joyce Theater ( 175 8th Avenue), The Highline Ballroom (431 West 16th Street) and The Magnet Theater (254 W 29th Street). You'll find a great market in Chelsea. The Chelsea Markets (75 9th Avenue) borders the Meatpacking District and Chelsea. Inside the old National Biscuit Company's (Nabisco) factory we can find a marketplace representing the best that New York has to offer. Because Chelsea is such a melting pot of cultures and it is so close to excellent food sources like Chelsea Market, and The Farmer's Market in Union Square, you really can eat whatever you like. If you want to shop at Chelsea Market, you're going to need a kitchen to cook all of the great food. Take a look at this fully furnished studio apartment in Chelsea (http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/furnished/8404). This simply furnished apartment has hardwood floors throughout and a tiled bathroom. The living area is furnished with a double sized futon. There is a dining table to have the option of eating all together. Air conditioning, cable television and Internet are all available with this rental. Or for those who are only looking for a room, check out this fully furnished room available for rent (http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/roommate-share/7897) in a 2-bedroom apartment to share with the owner. Tenants have access to a fully equipped kitchen, living room and bathroom. The room is furnished with a single bed and has air conditioning. There is a television with cable channels in the living room and there is a washer and dryer for the convenience of doing laundry in the apartment. There are far too many great restaurants to mention them all. However, here a few we think are worth visiting: Don Giovanni (214 Tenth Avenue), Del Posto (85 10th Avenue), Moonstruck Diner (400 West 23rd Street), etc. Chelsea has also got some great cafés and bakeries. Café Grumpy ( 224 W. 20th Street), La Grainne Café ( 183 9th Avenue) and Billy's Bakery (9th Avenue between West 21st & 22nd Street) And if you're looking for some bars and lounges, here are a couple to get you started: Raine's Law Room (48 W. 17th Street) and The Frying Pan (205 12th Avenue). Well that's a wrap of the second half of our video series dedicated to Chelsea. If we've missed any of your favorite spots in the area, please share them with us in the comments section below. And if you're coming to New York, be sure to book a vacation rental (http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/vacation ) or furnished apartment (http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/furnished ) with New York Habitat. You'll find furnished apartments all over Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. The player will encounter remnants of the New York City Police, Fire, and Emergency Responders and the New York National Guard now known as the JTF (Joint Task Force) who will help the player throughout the game. Enemies include the Rikers (Formerly prisoners of Rikers Island), bandits known as Rioters, The Cleaners who are primarily former New York City Sanitation Workers hellbent on purging the disease, and The Last Man Battalion, a secretive rogue military unit who are trying to restore order in more lethal manners. Throughout the game, the agents will find themselves caught in a worldwide conspiracy and will be forced to combat both the threats of the virus as well as those who unleashed it. The Division takes place in mid-crisis Manhattan, an open world with destructive environments that are free for players to explore. The player's mission is to restore order by investigating the source of a virus. The gameplay is similar to other third-person-shooters, in which player character can carry three weapons, and explosives like sticky bombs and smart mines to fight against enemies. Players may take cover behind objects during firefights to avoid taking damage from enemies, and to give them a tactical advantage when attacking. As the game is set in a third-person perspective, the character model is visible. As players progress, they earn experience points and currency. They can use these points to customize their character's appearance, upgrade weapons and gear, and learn new talents and skills. Players have to complete missions to learn active talents such as the ability to throw healing grenades, deploy automated gun turret or use radar pulse, which can tag enemies. The game features a dynamic, time based weather system which may bring benefits or disadvantages to players. For instance, storms can hinder player's visibility and make aiming difficult. The game also features a day-night cycle which will change the behaviors of enemies in the game.

NEW YORK — An explosion caused by what officials believe was a homemade bomb tore through the Chelsea neighborhood in New York City injuring at least 29 people on Saturday night. None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening, the New York City Fire Department said. The force of the explosion blew out windows and could be heard several blocks away, according to BBC. Authorities believe the blast was caused by an explosive device in or near a dumpster, according to CNN. The blast, which happened around 8:30 p.m., prompted the closure of a large section of Manhattan south of Midtown, the New York Times reported. On Sunday, 14th Street to 32nd Street was closed to traffic between Fifth and Eighth Avenues until further notice, according to the New York Times. A second device, believed to be a pressure cooker rigged with wires, was later found several blocks away on West 27th street. It was later safely removed by the NYPD Bomb Squad, according to the New York Police Department. “There is no specific and credible threat to New York City from any terror organization,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a news conference late Saturday night. However, the mayor did go on to say, “we believe at this point in time this was an intentional act.” Authorities said there appears to be no connection to a pipe bomb that exploded in a garbage can earlier on Saturday in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, USA Today reported. That blast occurred near a Marine charity run with no injuries reported, according to USA Today. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets.
